I adopted a calico cat about 3 years old and every once in awhile for no reason she bite me hard.?

I have had cats for over 45 years and have never seen this behavior before. Is there anything I can do to change her biting habit? I don't know what has happen to her in the past. I sure love her but I dont like being bitten hard enough to draw blood!!!!
