Why do women feel they need men to protect them? why can't women be more independent? why do they want to feel?

safe and secure around their boyfriend? why? why are girls instinctively programmed like that? it pisses me off because that means I have more work to do in dating and relationships, and if you are saying that i'm a weakling, coward, doormat, then you are ******' dead-wrong!!!!!!!, I just want a girl that doesn't feel she always needs to rely and depend on me, I'm perfectly fine with protecting a girl from physical harm, but mental or verbal harm? geeze why can't girls grow some backbone, a spine for once?
