Do house mice have short tails?

A small tail may have been a shrew or a vole. Shrews can have toxins in their saliva that are not deadly to humans usually but can make you sick or transmit more diseases than what a rodent like a mouse or vole can give you, so its probably best if you could get a picture if you catch another and get an id so you know what you have in your house.
