How do I know if I'm under feeding my fish?

I just got a new fish A red cap goldfish and a calico shubunkin goldfish. I think they search for food on the bottom so I'm not sure If they're hungry or not.. I feed them more food but they still do the same.. I usually feed them two times a day..
