Will calming treats work for a bawling cat?

I have a calico tortie cat who has a huge case of spring fever. Ever since the weather started getting nice she sits and bawls at just about everything. She is an indoor cat but for some reason she thinks I am going to let her outside. She will sit and bawl for hours! I've tried ignoring her, squirting her with water, making sure her food dish is full, and cat box is empty nothing works. Someone told me to try calming treats but I'm a little worried about drugging my cat. Do they work?
