How do you make a mean cat nice?

I have a four year old female Tortie, she has been fixed for a year now and shes still really mean, I recently took a trip to see my aunt and uncle, but their cat is A REALLY NICE CALICO, and i have gotton very fond of her coming up to me for me to pet her, and when I went home, I sat down on the couch and my Tortie ran up to me and jumped ontop of me and started kicking her feet on my elbow but she was biting my wrist and holding on tight! I really want my cat to be nice, and i know I shouldnt draw comparisons from two different cats, but i really want my cat to be nice.
